MGRC Membership Benefits
Excerpts from the MGRC Bylaws state that, "MGRC was formed in 1979 for the purpose of preserving the Constitutional rights of legislative petition and free speech; to enhance the profession of legislative representation; to research, acquire, possess and disseminate information to members..." and that is what its members and Board of Directors remain committed to.
The MGRC conducts several activities that we believe can be of service to you as a Minnesota lobbyist, including:
Directory
The MGRC annually publishes a member directory complete with contact information and photos of lobbyists. The directory is distributed to all legislators and staff, MGRC members, Governors staff, Commissioners, and the Capitol press corps. The directory has proven to be a key resource for these important decision-makers as well as MGRC members. Please click here to order a copy of the 2010 MGRC directory online.
Networking & Information Opportunities
Membership meetings are held frequently during the legislative session to enable the membership to meet with legislative leaders, their staff and other key players in the legislative process. These meetings are an excellent way to stay up-to-date on key issues, exchange ideas and information, and network with fellow lobbyists.
Capitol Lobbyist Room
The MGRC has arranged for and provides services to a room in the State Capitol for use by MGRC members to assist in their legislative efforts. The lobbyist room allows MGRC members to be more efficient and effective at the Capitol by providing on-site resources including desks, telephones, copier, fax machines, computer printers, wireless internet access, lockers and access to televised floor sessions and committee hearings.
Advocacy
The MGRC takes positions on those issues directly affecting the practice of legislative representation.
Our membership benefits change and expand regularly to meet the needs of our members. We want to ensure that we offer our members the tools they need to be successful.
